Dear Christopher B. Roblyer,
Thank you for your message.
The links to CNN have been removed at your request.
There was never any intention to mislead anyone or misuse
your client's trademark.
The registrations of cnn.news and cnn.sports were
done as a free promotion of new domains and services
and were done as a gesture of good faith.
It's unfortunate that CNN does not support new
domains, because ABC and CBS do, as do many others.
When the new domains are globally activated we invite
your client to join the rest of the world and sign up
in any of the new gTLDs they may find appropriate for
their needs. (i.e. "news" "sports" "weather" "fashion").
As there are strict anti-cybersquatting policies in place
with respect to the new TLDs published by Name.Space,
no others will be permitted to register "cnn.*" with the
exception of "cnn.sucks" which is reserved for dissent
and critique.
Sincerely,
Reclaimthe.Net

Re: Unauthorized Use of CNN Service Mark
Gentlemen:
This law firm represents Cable News Network LP, LLLP
(=ECCNN=EE). Since at least as early as 1980, CNN has
continuously used the service mark CNN to identify its
world famous electronic news and information services. In
recognition of CNN's exclusive rights in the CNN mark,
the United States Patent & Trademark Office (=ECPTO=EE)
has granted CNN numerous registrations for marks containing
the term CNN, including Registration No.1,597,839.
We understand that as an alleged courtesy to CNN you have
"pre-registered" Internet domain names CNN.NEWS and
CNN.SPORTS on CNN's behalf. Our client has only
recently learned, however, that you are using the domain
names without authorization from CNN to promote the
passage by ICANN of new generic Top-Level Domains.
Specifically, you are using the domain names on the web
sites WE.RECLAIMTHE.NET and RECLAIMTHE.NET
in connection with the following statements:
We the domain holders below hereby declare our prior
rights to publication of these domains as published by
Name.Space, the publisher, operator and registry for new
gTLDs that it sponsored, created, published and
operates on behalf of the internet community since 1996.
Refusing the publication of these domains into the global
"legacy" root is censorship.
Click on the domains below to see who holds them.
Switch to Name.Space to resolve them.
Vote with your DNS! Preserve your rights and freedoms!

Your use of the CNN.NEWS and CNN.SPORTS domain names in this
context is an unauthorized attempt to mislead ICANN and
the general public into believing that CNN supports your
attempts to secure the passage of new gTLDs.
Not only does CNN not support your efforts, it is opposed
to the adoption of new gTLDs.
On behalf of our client we demand that you immediately:
(1) remove all references to CNN, including but not limited
to the references to the domain names CNN.NEWS and CNN.SPORTS,
from the web site located at WE.RECLAIMTHE.NET and RECLAIMTHE.NET,
as well as any other web sites that you own, operate, or control; and
(2) agree not to use in the future any trademarks, service
marks, trade names, corporate names, domain names or
meta-tags that consist, in whole or in part, of our
client's marks.
We require your written agreement to the foregoing terms no
later than the close of business on Friday, September 22, 2000.
Please call me at the number listed above if you have any questions
about this matter.
We look forward to resolving this matter promptly and
without resorting to litigation, arbitration, or other
adversarial proceedings.
Sincerely,
Christopher B. Roblyer
